Clear your calendar - It's going down! The Emancipation Day festivities will take place on Saturday, April 13 and the parade will start at 2:00 PM at 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The concert kicks off at 3:00 PM and will feature an all-star lineup of some of the best artists in the game! The concert at Freedom Plaza will also feature many of DC's own homegrown talent. November is Hip-Hop History Month. The #EntertainDC Office is proud to celebrate the contributions of Hip-Hop music to American culture. DC is home to the world's first Hip-Hop Museum. The Hip-Hop Museum pays tribute to the historic steps, legacy and cultural impact of Hip-Hop and its original pioneering music icons. We are proud to have been a part of the ceremony. The DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment is proud to announce that applications are now open for the Winter 2022 Cohort of the Mayor Muriel Bowser Presents 202Creates Residency Program.
For more than 3 years, the 202Creates Residency Program has provided over 200 District entrepreneurs with resources and support to build their creative businesses. We are excited to welcome our 6th cohort of residents this Winter and look forward to sharing their amazing work. Applications open Monday November 22, 2021 and closes on Monday, December 13, 2021.

The 202Creates Residency Program provides a community setting for creatives to brainstorm ideas, generate energy together, and develop new collaborations. The program is designed for self-motivated, goal-oriented, and passionate creative entrepreneurs with specific projects they want to take to the next level.

DC! We asked and you responded with what Go-Go means to you! Check out the newest Go-Go mural located at 903 Girard St. NE.
With support of Ward 5 business owners, the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment, DC Creative Affairs Office and Mayor Muriel Bowser Presents 202Creates, worked with critically acclaimed storyteller Robert Young for a brand new Public Art Activation.
The mural will feature 51 words from community members about the importance Go-Go in their lives. Why 51 words? These 51 words are to support and showcase DC residents' vote and voice in Congress.
November is Hip-Hop History Month. Congress passed Resolution 311, the bill that officially designates November as National Hip-Hop History Month. OCTFME is proud to celebrate the contributions fo Hip-Hop Music to American culture.
Hip-Hop is both a transcendental musical genre and an important American cultural export. Born on the streets of New York in the 70's Hip-Hop music and culture have influenced music, film, style, speech, fashion, sports, language and culture, not just in the United States but around the world.

The Care for Creatives program is accepting new creatives! The partnership between the DC Creative Affairs Office and the George Washington University Community Counseling Services Center provides pay-what-you-can mental health services to DC creatives. To receive care, email CCSCFoggyBottom@gwu.edu and the Care for Creatives team will follow up with more information. You will be asked a couple of questions and then paired with a clinician for support.
The DC Creative Affairs Office launched the Care for Creatives Community Conversations series to support mental wellness within the District's creative community. Check out the series on our YouTube channel including with the latest conversation about "Managing Change".
Earlier this year, The Anacostia Business Improvement District (BID), in partnership with its Art, Culture, Entertainment, and Education (ACEE) Council, DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME), Project Create, Lyft and the DC Department of Transportation partnered to create the first self-guided scooter corral tour in Ward 8.
Art to Go-Go provides the community and visitors a way to explore public art around Ward 8. Four murals dedicated to Go-Go, DC’s official sound of the city, have been completed and two more are on the way!
The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work created within television and video. Receiving over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents, Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world.

The #EntertainDC Office is pleased to recognize Jon Gann as the OCTFME November 2021 Filmmaker of the Month (FOTM)!
Jon Gann is a DC-based arts and film festival administrator; author; film producer and director of several award-winning commercial, documentary and narrative films since 2000. His latest documentary, "Miss Alma Thomas: A Life in Color" tells the story of about the often overlooked and under-appreciated DC-based African American artist and educator, Alma Thomas. The critically acclaimed and award-winning film, created for an art gallery retrospective is currently screening at museums and film festivals around the country.
“I am honored to be recognized by OCTFME for my work as a filmmaker and community leader," Jon said. "Being recognized for two decades of service to our incredible film community is truly humbling.”
